Beeston Festival Review

Beeston festival is an annual event set in Cross Flatts Park, Leeds. Every year many charities, organisations and local traders set up stalls, games, fun and freebies for all to enjoy. Along with local bands, dancers, cheerleaders and DJ’s it makes for the perfect fun-packed day in the sun! The array of colours, diversity, creativity and cultures is extravagant, beautiful and unmissable!

This year we had the joy of taking a team of 25 people ready to share the love and heart of God with everyone they met! We started the day with prayer, asked God to fill us and work through us and then moved into the day with peace, joy, love and anticipation as to what God was going to do!

Firstly, we had a prophetic art area where a steady stream of participants would come throughout the day and print their fingerprint onto a card, a member of the prophetic art team would then ask God for a picture about the persons identity – who God said they were. This was very powerful and many people were moved, touched and amazed by what God said to them and very pleased with their very own little piece of artwork they could take home! In addition to this others painted larger pieces of art on canvas which they gave away to those they felt led to do so, along with an interpretation of the painting. It was awesome to watch God move through our creative gifts and use them to lead others into many deep and moving encounters with himself.

Secondly, we had a prophetic team giving words of comfort, encouragement and strength to those who wanted them and there was no shortage of people eager to find out what God wanted to say to them! We were humbled and in awe as time after time people were brought to tears, joy and utter amazement as God showed them He is real and He knows and cares about the most intricate details of their life. The secrets of their hearts were revealed and we had the privilege of leading many in prayers of healing, forgiveness and restoration.

Thirdly, the healing on the streets team was out in force! The 7ft banner was blowing proudly in the wind calling all who needed healing physically, emotionally and spiritually! Many people came to sit on the chairs and be quietly prayed over throughout the day. Again many were brought to tears as they experienced God’s peace and beautiful presence fill their hearts, minds and bodies. People were healed and one lady led to salvation through Jesus Christ right then and there in the park!

Alongside all that was going on, we had an information point where people could learn more about the church, our CAP centre, up and coming events, Freedom Generation and much more. The free mints and lollies went down a treat, as well as our balloon animals – brilliantly done by our very own Joy Wilson of JingJangJooJong – experts in children’s entertainment, boasting her very own balloon skirt she put a smile on the faces of many kids and adults alike!

What was so impacting from the whole day is how BIG God is, He is working all the time in everything, the Holy Spirit was already working in the hearts of everyone who came to us, wooing them, drawing them to himself with cords of loving kindness – we were just another part of the journey they were already on!

We believe that every seed planted on this day will bear much fruit in the lives of everyone involved! For testimonies from the day please click on the link.
